David Allen

David has been actively involved with acting and the theatre world since his college days beginning in 1961 at Millsaps College, eventually graduating with honors earning a degree in Theater Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi. During his 57+ years of active participation both on and off stage, David has appeared in over 55 community theatre roles on various Memphis stages and served over the years in countless other summer stock and stage productions as a writer, producer, director, stage manager and “techie.” 1999 Winner of Excellence in Memphis Theatre Award (pre-Ostrander) for Best Supporting Actor. David is a SAG-eligible actor having appeared in both motion pictures and TV commercials as well as providing local assistance for producers and professional casting directors. Proud winner of the 2007 national David C. Bryant Outstanding Service Award from the American Association of Community Theatre for “significant, valuable and lasting lifetime achievement in support of Community Theatre”. Major affiliation with Theatre Memphis for 35+ years as a volunteer, Executive Board member, and devised and staffed auditions for 25+ years. David was also employed as the Business Manager for 8 years, retiring in 2002. David has served as Community Theatre Festival chairs for Tennessee Theatre Association, Southeastern Theatre Conference and American Association of Community Theatre. He served as an Ostrander College judge for the years 1999-2002 before becoming an Ostrander Community Theatre judge in 2002.
